Two years ago I never would have dreamed a #KState team led by Avery Johnson would be so lackluster. The defense is undisciplined. The offense is unimaginative. The special teams are unsteady. And the team will be unsuccessful unless something drastic changes.

It’s easy to get frustrated with the defense tonight but this is what Army does. The scheme is a real challenge. The real issue tonight and why the defensive mistakes are magnified is the fact that K-State’s offense can’t score and pad the lead.

Man, if the Royals lose, Bobby is going to wear this one. Failed to get a run home from third with only one out, allowed the go-ahead run to score on the missed grounder, and whiffed with a runner on second base.

Detroit has four in this inning. I think they only get one if Isbel is in center. I realize he’s a left-handed hitter, but in a game you hope will be low scoring, it’s wise to start your best defensive lineup. Tolbert isn’t a significant offensive upgrade anyway.

He didn’t cost the #Royals in the eighth, but Kyle Isbel is a bad base runner. First, he goes halfway and pauses on a two-out hit (should be running hard on contact with two outs), then he rounds the bag too far and probably should have been tagged out. He just has no instincts.
