Jesus' final days are spent confronting the religious misuse of money, and washing the feet of immature disciples. His prophetic and pastoral foolishness gets him killed. Tbh I would rather pastor people who appreciate me, and preach without getting killed...

It’s possible to have a life that doesn’t appear fruitful to the world, but is faithful to God. This is the foolishness of the Cross. The Cross looks like failure, but is the greatest act of faithfulness which has led to incalculable fruitfulness. #HolyWeek

God's word to Abraham to "leave country" is an urgent message to the American church. Our fundamental identity must be in God's call, not our country. As Christians, it is only when we "leave our country" that we can truly bless our country.

It's telling that so many conservative Christians could not recognize a statement ("obedience to God's law can be a way to rebel vs God") that expresses the classic law-gospel distinction, that obedience can be one of the two ways to reject the gospel- legalism and antinomianism.

We long for justice to run like a mighty river but more often than not, it begins with a trickle. Be that trickle. Do your part. Start where you’re at. Listen to the stories and pain around you. Grow in empathy. Be a good neighbor. Seek justice. Love kindness. Walk humbly.

For far too many, justice is seen as an optional supplement to evangelism and mission. But we need to seriously consider justice as one of the means of evangelism. Many in this generation could care less about our good news if it’s not good news leading to a more just world.
