As A PHE CCDC who investigated the first cases in UK residents… If we didn't know Covid-19 was airborne on 1st Feb 2020… We knew it (beyond reasonable doubt) by the 29th.

@petermbenglish @fascinatorfun And the thing is, when you doubt know, you use the caution as if it was! What’s that saying? Better safe than sorry!
@trahana @fascinatorfun But then we were NOT ALLOWED to treat people as potentially infectious until they'd had a positive test. Which took about a week. By then they were no longer (or only barely) infectious. The moral injury to us professionals was terrible.
@petermbenglish @trahana @fascinatorfun So sorry Peter. I do understand that many competent professionals feel moral injury over this whole sad process. I have less respect for the subset who abandoned precaution and best practice goals of old and gleefully bought into abandonment of public health principles.
@MarvinH2_G2 @petermbenglish @fascinatorfun We surely learned during the pandemic that some MDs and PH officials do not know or understand science as much as they should. Pushing for RCTs for things, can you say masks, that all engineers understand can be tested with other test types was disingenuous at best or careless!
