Managed to sneak in a bit of birding during our Kent family visiting last week. Added Chough(controversial I know), BC Night Heron and Temminck's Stint to our Kent list.
Plus year first Black Redstart. And just great to see the escapee Scarlet Ibis.
Things took a bit of a Tern on Saturday - Sandwich, Common, Arctic, Rosette, Little and American Black Tern to be precise. Around Amble, Coquet Island and Long Nanny.
Internet/wi-fi has been abysmal so far, so a bit of triplist catching up to do.
Managed to get our work done by Thursday evening so an extra leisurely travel day Friday. Goshawk, Crossbill and Marsh Tit were nice to kick things off.
Our local Bee Orchid colony is just getting going, although I only spotted three spikes this morning. Very lucky to have them just yards from our front door though. A few more Spotted Orchids there this year, and one that had me thinking Marsh?
Absolutely delighted last night, after three blank visits this year, and a complete no show last year our local(next village) Nightjars put on a super show for us.
Managed an after work dash to Kirby Gravel Pits, this afternoon for the Whiskered Tern, super bird and a British (and Lincolnshire obviously) tick for us. Photos and video by Alison.
We are favouring Marbled Minor for all 3 of these, think the orange spot clinches no.1, not so certain on the other two, guess they may have to remain as 'Minor sp' in reality? (pics 3&4 are same individual) @MOTHIDUK can you confirm please
A lovely sunny day @gibpoint today, felt pretty quiet but still 61sp, decent if distant scope views of the Osprey first spotted by Paul Neale, and fun playing hide and seek with this Reed Warbler.
Rained off from work again yesterday so headed to RSPB Fairburn Ings hoping for a dry day. It worked!
And Alison managed these great phonescoped Kingfisher pics
