A friend of mine sent me this over. Each table in his class has one of these in the middle of the table during maths lessons. This is a year 1 class. Love this way of using manipulatives! Going to give this a try… @WhiteRoseMaths

Primary maths teachers: What do you do for those kids who aren’t at the age related expectations? (A.R.E) Say you get 80% of your class to the A.R.E. What would you do with that bottom 20%? Extra practice? If so, how? This is the area/problem my school has.

At least we've won the phonics war in the UK. And it really was a war for many years. Sadly, that isn't the case across the US, or in Australia or other parts of the western world.

Watching the darts. Thinking of getting each class a (child friendly) darts board, with the aim to help improve mental maths. Any thoughts or anyone that’s done anything similar? ☺️

I’m going to change primary mathematics. Not the curriculum. I mean how it is taught. All through variation theory. Specifically, procedural variation. Every child can succeed at maths. I look forward to sharing my resources to the world of edutwitter. Let’s do this. 🤙

Primary teachers! I’m interested in how you go about SEND or children who are significantly behind the age related expectations in your maths lessons. Do you keep them with the whole class? Do you set them off on their individual tailored work? TA? Thanks 😊
