Evidence of how wet our spring has been in Starkville. Our tissue sampling study (funded by @MississippiCorn) is my favorite study to get pictures of. Visually, you can only see differences between 300 and everything else. Most N was lost since application due to rain.
New-ish PhD student Sydney Baker is finally getting to plant her last Soybean K study at Verona, where it has FINALLY dried up enough to work in. In collaboration with @SoybeanScience1 , we’re investigating in-season applications and foliar apps of K to curtail yield loss
With the wet planting season we’ve had, many places along the NE side of the state have some super hungry corn. Here is a pic of V8 corn getting its first shot of the season. We want to know just how late can we be and maintain yields.
Good Friday ended up being decent Friday for the Fertility crew in Starkville and Brooksville. All but one corn trial is in the ground, but both planter and trailer gave out on us as we finished up. We’re just gonna let that be Mondays problem…

It's a sweet potato field day at the #MAFES Pontotoc Ridge-Flatwoods Branch Experiment Station! #MAFES and @MSUExtService scientists and specialists share research on sweetpotatoes at the annual event. Mississippi ranks third in the nation for sweet potato production!
Seeing some leftover Phosphorus sitting in the field from our preplant application in soybeans in Verona. Not likely to give us a P response this year, but if you were dry like we were here, something to consider when looking at yields and thinking about future applications
