In Rodanthe, North Carolina, a third house since Friday has collapsed, marking the 10th house to fall in the last four years...
@volcaholic1 It would be nice if they stop building houses in the beach.
@volcaholic1 What an insane place to build a house
@volcaholic1 Climate change is fueling these unnatural disasters. Later is too late to create a safer future for our kids. #UnnaturalDisaster #LaterIsTooLate
@volcaholic1 It looks like their neighbors are the next ones to go. These houses were built in 1998. How far back from the ocean were they back then?
@volcaholic1 I live on a beach but way further back…I mean that’s too close to the water
@volcaholic1 The Indians had the common sense not to build their houses next to the ocean.
It's a really small strip of sand with hardly any trees left to keep it together with roots now. But they don't talk about that bit.... It's at the whim of the ocean with trees that need to be there to make ground... That heart near the top is where we used to live in Yorktown a stones throw from the water. Crazy amounts of flooding all thru nc va every year.
@volcaholic1 I'm in Canada so I can't post news links. This sandbar popped up a few years ago and guy claimed he owns it.
@volcaholic1 let me guess, the insurance company cancelled coverage last year
@volcaholic1 Houses were probably built by a Trump-company.
@volcaholic1 the well earned million dollar plunge
@volcaholic1 And the one next door is for sale! lol!
@volcaholic1 This is a result of ongoing beach erosion over the past decade. Decisions weren’t made that should have been.
@volcaholic1 The Three Little Pigs had some building advice the people in Nth Carolina should heed
@volcaholic1 The houses are on stilts in sand… on the beach. I mean, why?!
@volcaholic1 Makes perfect sense building in a tidal or surf zone… Darwin awards for the taking.
@volcaholic1 "The Three Little Pigs" is a fable about three pigs who build their houses of different materials. A Big Bad Wolf blows down the first two pigs' houses which are made of straw and sticks respectively, but is unable to destroy the third pig's house that is made of bricks. 1840 apx
@volcaholic1 Why would anyone even consider building a house here⤵️? google.com/maps/place/Rod…
@volcaholic1 What was that romantic movie set there?
@volcaholic1 That should be illegal. In my state of Oregon you can't build any buildings in the sand or on the beach. They have to be up off the beach. Here is a valid reason as to why.
@volcaholic1 Hon. Did you empty the dishwasher like I asked?
@volcaholic1 Were there still people in the houses? 😱
@volcaholic1 Just as well this is in Dare County...
@volcaholic1 Build on shifting coastal sands and that's what is liable to happen. The next thing you know morons start screaming "Climate Change"! They're so pathetic.
@volcaholic1 Who ever built these, whenever they built them, must have spent more than five minutes looking at the beach and sea. They always knew this would happen.
@volcaholic1 To be fair building house up on stilts that close to ocean isn't the best idea. People that want a house on the ocean, sign up for this risk.
@volcaholic1 Is there any serious effort to know the underlying cause of such falls?
Oh no that was my favourite house there ! That's sad buy this happens every year there. Volca I'll find you the article for this issue of a new sand that popped up and a guy claimed ownership lol We have a bunch of friends with cabins and vacation homes there. It's the tiniest piece of land on the Atlantic. It's all sand. As opposed to Newfoundland here in the Atlantic too but made of the earth's Mantle and rock basically lol
@volcaholic1 @jgownder The sea doesn't care if you raise your house... it will take whatever is in its path.
@volcaholic1 Building on a beach is not exactly the most sensible choice.
@volcaholic1 Well to be truthful my chicken coop looked more robust then that house........
@volcaholic1 /paging Ben Shapiro Real Estate
@volcaholic1 Not even sure if that’s covered by insurance! 😬😂
