Today, New Caledonia voted against independence from #France with 56.4% against and 43.6% in favour on a turnout of 80.6%. The results map show, predictably, a clear ethnic split with native Kanaks voting heavily in favour of independence. #ReferendumNC2018

#EleccionesMexico Mayoral elections in most states in #Mexico were also brutal for the PRI and great for #Morena. States in white didn't have local elections this year.

#EleccionesMexico and finally, the 2006 elections in #Mexico. F Calderón (PAN) defeated AMLO by less than 0.6%. Unpopular R Madrazo (PRI) finished a disastrous 3rd. Lots of comparisons have been drawn to 2006 this time... but don't expect a repeat. Fascinating map.

#EleccionesMéxico Often overlooked, but many Mexicans migrate to other states within Mexico. 17% were born in another state/country than where they resided. In tourism industry-dominated #QuintanaRoo, that # was 54%. & 44% in #BajaCalifornia.
