A fellow academic who just got back from a long vacation reports she has 4000 emails to "triage." Reminds of what @johnolilly first told me in 2000 or so and, last year, agreed it was still true: "email is the killer app of the Internet...both meanings."
@work_matters @johnolilly I know some academics are resistant, but that would be a good application for technology. Apps like @Superhuman and others may not be a panacea, but at that level, you either need human and/ or technological help.
@work_matters @johnolilly Out of curiosity — do universities usually allow faculty to use third-party email tools to help with inbox management, or are they strict about sticking with the official system?
@work_matters @johnolilly :) I have been pattern-matching my automated script to throw away "small talks and specific words" in the subject line and body of the mail . Oh, I run a typical "text" based mail client, and the damn thing is at least 2 decades old.
