Mechanical engineers/designers spend 40% of their time creating production drawings from their 3D models. It's a tedious process, error-prone, and often delays projects by weeks. DraftAid (YC W24) uses AI to automate this process with a single click: ycombinator.com/launches/KWE-d…
@ycombinator GD&T and design intent is where time is spent…
@ycombinator Does this do gd&t? That’s where the real time is spent
@ycombinator Happy to meet with the founders to help make sure this can become a useful product
@ycombinator Mechanical Eng here: great start. Choice dimensions depend on your measurement methodology at the factory. Next step - choose datum and re-dimensions based on that. But frankly showing dimensions that are two clicks away isn’t the time consuming part.
@ycombinator Very useful tool, but a little late. Creating technical drawings is an already outdated step that I skipped early on in my work. Too time consuming and a source of confusion. The information contained in a drawing needs to be embedded in the 3D file.
@ycombinator Let's just all agree to adopt ISO 16792 and annotate 3D models directly.
@ycombinator This is super fire lol. Would’ve saved me a lot of time in a modeling class
@ycombinator Not quite. But getting close. Keep progressing forward :-)
@ycombinator Maybe interesting for @2112Power
@ycombinator Amazing. I know mechanical design teams for whom this was a huge need!
@ycombinator A good but potentially at the risk of being a "button feature" away in existing CAD products like SOLIDWORKS.
@ycombinator Assuming NX has internal similarity option? See popular integrations are for less expensive CAD licenses minus CATIA.
