Introducing Early Decision. For students who want to do a startup but also want to finish school first. Apply now, get funded the moment you're accepted, and do YC after you graduate. ycombinator.com/early-decision
Applications are now open! Apply at ycombinator.com/apply.
@ycombinator blackpill "we aren't going to stop wanting kids, but now we won't encourage them to drop out of skoo" does yc even invest in people over 25 or do they just shred those unc's applications
@ycombinator I love this so much, so many young founders get underdog psychosis and drop out of good schools when it’s unnecessary As a high school dropout I’ll never recommend it to anyone. People underestimate the ramifications it has on the rest of your life; I got lucky and it worked out
@ycombinator Proof that YC backs the founders, not the idea
this makes absolutely no sense. the core of the startup ecosystem is kids dropping out who want nothing more than to solve a problem because for "some silly reason" the world didnt already have it. encourage risk taking. whatever... i suppose this is going to make natural selection easier
@ycombinator I can see accepting them for the future, but what exactly is a kid still doing schooling gonna do with the funds? This sounds like a desperate attempt to get younger crowds that mostly don’t see a reason for being in ycombinator
@ycombinator no take-backs?? this is insane (and very cool) what if the idea they apply with is completely irrelevant 2-4 years later? they just pivot?
Introducing “don’t take a risk, but get benefits now”. Do you want to get a degree but all the cool kids are opening companies? We got just the thing for you! Now you can have a “YC accepted early decision” line on your LinkedIn and resume, and show everyone, you too, maybe make an app that helps people cheat, in 4 years or so. Startups are risky! You don’t need that, just getting accepting to YC is all that matters! Learn more at ycombinator.com/why-take-a-risk
@ycombinator Yawn, I’ve already given 5 term sheets to kids in my son’s pre-K class

@ycombinator But will meta be same by the time people graduate?
@ycombinator This is great simply because, to a certain degree, entrepreneurship is a craft that requires apprenticeship. The earlier you start learning the ropes, the faster you start compounding expertise.

@ycombinator A lot of these comments seem to be from people who don’t have to worry about visas and how having a degree improved your chances of being able to stay in SF/the US
@ycombinator pre K to pre seed pipeline YC stay winning
@ycombinator we're talking about grade school, right?
@ycombinator Tomorrow @a16z will deploy speedrun scouts to every high school in America.
@ycombinator really interesting. STRONG signal that we are in a founders market. a few years ago pre-seed VCs were passing on super talented friends because they werent ready to 100% commit on the spot. now we have YC, of everyone, offering a call option to college seniors.
@ycombinator If my startup gets into YC, the last thing I'll worry about is school
@ycombinator This is like taking the best parts out of startup culture and trying to put the worst parts in.
