I can't believe it. It looks like the weather gods are gonna let us see the eclipse! The only obscuration I’m seeing (here in Cleveland, OH) is from some high, thready cirrus (and a couple of contrails). WooHoo!

The Edmund Fitzgerald sank yesterday in 1975. I love Gordon Lightfoot's song about it, & TIL the day after Lightfoot died last May, the bell at The Mariner's Church in Detroit was rung 30 times: 29 to honor the dead sailors, & once for the artist who memorialized them in song.

Hey, @RTDNEWS, I've supported you for years by subscribing. Your mobile web page has an auto-starting, sticky video player that stops my podcast player and covers up part of the article. I go to the RTD site to *read* news, not watch videos. You're really annoying a subscriber.

I have no idea how I missed the news that, a decade after it was cancelled, #Hulu picked up—and restarted—the #Futurama TV series. It still pokes fun at everything (now including Hulu and streaming services), and it's still hilarious. wired.com/story/futurama…

TIL the word "propaganda" comes from the name of a group formed in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV, the Congregatio de Propaganda Fide (congregation for propagation of the faith), responsible for fostering the spread of Catholicism. Its meaning changed over time, of course...

Hey @NPR, in your podcasts, an ad says "If you're an Amazon Prime member, you could get this episode of News Now ad-free on Amazon Music." I'm a Prime member, and it doesn't work unless I "upgrade" to the extra-cost Amazon Music service. This is misleading, and you should fix it.

It's a sign of the times—and a little disconcerting—when I see a news headline mentioning #climate in the Amazon #rainforest and my first thought is "I didn't know #Amazon built a rainforest." 🤣
