England is 40,000 doctors short of the EU average. Yet fully qualified doctors are unemployed, some driving Uber to get by. Waiting lists remain at record highs while government policy blocks doctors from working. This is political failure on an industrial scale.

Fully qualified resident doctors earn £18.62/hr despite £100,000+ student debt. A fair and credible multi year pay deal moving doctors to £22.67/hr would help keep doctors in the NHS. Patients deserve a well staffed health service. hsj.co.uk/workforce/excl…

Spoke to all doctors at Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte's Hospital. Doctors were as worried about job security as pay. However, many doctors don't trust the government to deliver on non-pay issues. A multi-year pay deal to FPR remains the simplest way to resolve the dispute.

The government is talking about a multi‑year pay deal from 2026/27 and non‑pay issues, yet it has already failed to deliver on a key non‑pay commitment: reforming exception reporting. If the government fails to offer anything substantial, we must escalate to industrial action.

I'm running for London Council. I negotiated the 22% pay uplift, broke the locum cap locally as an f1/2 & won back incorrectly deducted strike pay. I'm standing with an experienced & driven team to scrap the locum cap and revise London weighting. Vote:elections.bma.org.uk

I voted against the BMA continuing negotiations with the government. The government is engaging in bad faith and running down the clock. No commitment to pay restoration, the exception reporting reform delayed again and no immediate fix to bottlenecks. The BMA must escalate.

Spoke to doctors at St Thomas’ today. One has booked flights to Australia, earning far more for fewer hours. Here, NHS doctors are underpaid, exhausted, and many face unemployment. Why would doctors stay in a system that abuses them and a Health Secretary who won’t value them?

Spoke to doctors at Guy’s Hospital today. One doctor is leaving the NHS after failing to get a training job and being unable to support their family on their pay. Unemployed doctors. Long waiting lists. And a Health Secretary who looks away. This is 21st century Britain.

A third of doctors with disabilities/neurodivergent conditions say they’ve been bullied by colleagues. 73% can’t get the adjustments they’re legally entitled to. More than half are thinking of quitting. The NHS can’t afford to lose them, but it’s driving them out. Shameful
