Was on a search warrant not long ago that required a cop to stage across the street in case the suspect fled on foot. I was glad it wasn't me b/c as I approached the target location, my knee started hurting for no reason other than I'm 52 and the police gods like to laugh at me.

Saw a movie where an FBI agent has to take on an armed robbery crew by himself because the deputy he's with freezes & stays in the car. The agent chews him out but afterwards buys him a drink & says "You get one pass." What? No you don't. Not for cowardice. C'mon, movie people.

In the film Asphalt City, cops let NY paramedics in a scene to treat a GSW victim who's just lying there bleeding. That's Hollywood stuff. Where I work, police would have already cut open his pants, stopped the bleeding w/ a pressure bandage or tourniquet, and be monitoring him.

Was going to work on the subway heading towards a particularly grubby stop and saw a gal swinging around the vertical hand rail like that happy guy from Singin' in the Rain. My first thought was what a testament to pure joy. My 2nd thought was to offer her some hand sanitizer.
