Humanoid robots are going to need better local models. Calling to an LLM in the cloud for advice makes sense (call a bigger AI brain if you're stuck), but you can't have every action dependent on WiFi or cellphone access. Depending on the cloud for voice is terrible.

Unfortunate reality: most open-source LLM servers (e.g. Together) don’t offer cache-hit discounts, while closed providers like OpenAI do. DeepSeek does discount, but most third-party servers don't. Closed models can end up much cheaper than open ones :(
