So, for the past 18 months I have been working on a side gig: Pre-Clerkship Educator for the new @UCalgaryMed curriculum. I am one of a team creating innovative medical education content. This has been my busiest week to date as I am leading this weeks' theme of Pelvic Pain.
My patient who had an ectopic pregnancy last year had an ultrasound today and she has an intrauterine pregnancy!!!
@motherpilled Says you! I had a 36 hour induced labour, and then an emergency cesarean.. and no pain meds until the Caesar.. never again! My 2nd child.. I had a C-section to avoid both the physical stress of myself and my baby.. It's our choice.. Not yours!
'Normal birth' isn't simply a language issue. It is a fundamental rejection of medical thinking and progress. I'm sure @MidwivesRCM are aware of this. 9/
Firstly no one should be made to bear labor pains in this day and age - EPIDURALS FOR ALL! Secondly, no, cesarean is not done just to save lives - cesareans can be done on maternal request too given the horrible and unforeseen consequences of so many vaginal deliveries.

@Nyrenia @pahtakari @ask_aubry To be fair telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/15… Maternal request cesarean has the lowest death rates. The rates of death are so low, that NICE guidelines state women should be able to choose a cesarean simply as a birth choice. I did and I would do it again.
@mainnahikhelrhy In our set-up patient themselves request for cesarean despite counseling, maternal request is a valid indication for cesarean. So🤷♀️

So this is terrible news — for the reading public and her journalistic colleagues, though not I trust for Chantal. There's no shrewder observer of the political scene, anywhere, and coverage of Canadian politics will be immeasurably poorer for her (fortunately not total) absence.
Some personal news: To give myself some much needed breathing room, I have decided to relinquish my weekly column in The Star. I will be back for special occasions, including the next election campaign. You can also still follow me in all the other usual places.
@AwaitingJuno I never saw this post from you Janice! Honestly? For me? People will hate me to find out I had umpteen opportunities that I ignored or wasted, in pursuit of what I thought was more important at the time. I had luck. Luck did it for me, but maybe I had a hand in building it.
@mattdellok And where will the kids go to school? Has Council cross-referenced their projections with school capacity? Is Council waiting for kindergarten lotteries to signal a problem, like Vancouver?

We can have 25 acute care patients waiting in hallways. We can have 25 long term care patients waiting in and filling acute care beds. It’s not a good place for either group health wise. Does anyone know a consultant who we could hire to come up with a solution?
