Best time to back pick is after missed bunt attempt. IMO, next best is w/ runners on 1st & 2nd or bases loaded w/ 1st base playing behind. Runner at 1st almost always extends 2ndary lead & if 1st base coach isn’t doing their job, runner is easy pickin’s! #thelifeofacatcher

I was asked about footwork during pitchouts. W/lefty up, 1 is drop step & 2 is jab step. W/ righty up, IMO, jab step is best option. Whatever footwork you use, key is left foot hits ground as ball hits mitt which will help keep upper & lower body in sync or rhythm. (1of2)
