Problem-solving is essential for Ireland to fulfil its commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. That’s why it's also central to our curricula redesign and teaching the next generation of architects the skills necessary to build a resilient and sustainable future.
Engaging with students, lecturers, industry experts, professional bodies, and local communities is how we take action. Our critical needs assessments work through listening and collaboration to address key skills gaps. Learn more at buildingchange.ie.
We are actively reshaping architectural education for a sustainable future. Our curricula redesign addresses real-world problems like carbon reduction and inclusive design, equipping our graduates for the career ahead of them. Learn more at the buildingchange.ie.
Building Change equips students and staff with skills for sustainable construction. Our CPD programmes address skill gaps and keep professionals current with industry trends, meaning participants are empowered to drive positive change in the built environment.
Every day’s a school day! As part of the curricula transformation, we provide upskilling and reskilling opportunities to architecture practitioners and students, through continued professional development programmes which are focused on the future of architecture.
Communication is key! Building Change proactively engages with our professional body, the @RIAIOnline, industry, communities, and policymakers, to understand the needs of our practitioners, staff, and students, in tackling the challenges facing society.
Today and tomorrow, we are hosting an exhibition at the @RIAIOnline Conference and Architecture & Building Expo in @TheRDS. ‘Constructive Interference’ is a national architecture exhibition curated and designed by Rubble, featuring work from students of our six partner schools.
How do we reduce the carbon impact of construction, while also showing the societal value of inclusive and resilient design? Our project-focused curricula allows students, professionals and communities to work and learn together and develop the skills to make a real impact.
Happy World Architecture Day! This year's theme is ‘Empowering the next generation to participate in urban design’. Like Building Change, @UIA_Architects understands the importance of young architects in designing tomorrow’s cities and contributing to urban transformation.
Ethical architecture? Responsible building? Resilient environments? We believe design is key to creatively addressing the built environment challenges facing society. We’re transforming our teaching and learning approaches in response to this.
Covering theory, critical papers and case studies, earlier this year we delivered the Whole Life Design CPD module for design educators from across architectural technology and engineering. Learn more on the Building Change website, at buildingchange.ie.
It’s not just our students who are learning something new through Building Change. Our CPD programme offers educators and practitioners opportunities to upskill through unique programmes developed by each of our partner universities. Turns out you can teach all dogs new tricks!
Our critical needs assessment asks 'What key skills are needed to combat the challenges facing our future architects?', to identify and address skills gaps, for a better built future. Learn more about how Building Change is taking action at buildingchange.ie/education.
With construction sites all around us, have you ever asked what happens with the construction and demolition waste they create? @DemoTakeDown are bringing a new exhibition to @IMMAIreland Earth Rising Festival and @Culture Night 2024. Visit imma.ie/whats-on/earth… for more.
Learning needs doing. Our Architecture Design Studio pilots use real life examples of the climate and housing crises that challenge students to develop solutions with the future-proofed skills from the Building Change curricula. Visit buildingchange.ie/projects to learn more.
The climate emergency demands a radical response. Building Change empowers students to be radical in building a more sustainable and resilient future for all.
Every time we build, we contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, take from limited materials resources and impact the natural environment – potentially causing the loss of natural habitats and biodiversity. We’re also facing a housing crisis. How do find a balanced solution?
The Building Change initiative is a collaboration between every Irish school of Architecture, including 1284+ students and 125 staff, featuring academic staff and student representatives from each university. Visit buildingchange.ie/team to meet the team.
Building Change is a collaboration between every Irish school of Architecture, but our initiative is not limited to these locations. Building Change runs field trips around Ireland and offers CPD to practitioners across the country. Visit buildingchange.ie/projects to learn more.
We’re tackling immediate problems facing the built environment, and our society. Ireland needs to see change now to fight the climate and housing crises and achieve objectives related to the UN’s SDGs. Visit buildingchange.ie to learn more.
