A video of healthcare workers posing next to bodily-fluid stained exam paper & mocking the “gifts” patients left went viral. Patients already struggle to trust their clinicians. They deserve our kindness, in & outside the room. There is no place for shaming patients in medicine.

It’s so valuable to me when preceptors or residents give actionable feedback—it helps me know exactly what to work on for the next rotation to become a better student and future physician. Much more helpful than just hearing ‘you did great.’

Being fully present with your patient—no computer, just listening—builds real trust and connection. I keep seeing this firsthand as a med student and as a volunteer scribe/CNA at a free clinic. It matters more than we realize!

Taking a leave of absence from med school this past year was such a difficult decision! Despite the stress, it turned out to be the best thing that’s happened in a while. So grateful for all the good that came out of this year — now counting down the days to return to clinicals!

Feeling so grateful for the opportunity to study medicine and use that knowledge to help and educate others—especially while overseas. Every time I visit Egypt, it brings the most meaningful full-circle moments. It’s amazing how beautifully things always fall into place. 🥹✨

Saw a patient recently with cardiac issues—too afraid to seek care because of her immigration status. Her fear is real and valid. Cannot stop thinking of her. Our healthcare system is already broken, but being an immigrant adds another heavy layer of stress especially nowadays…

Behind every diagnosis is a person. It’s easy to get lost in charts, numbers, and differentials—but the patient in front of you deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. Humanism in medicine isn’t extra; it’s essential. We treat people, not just diseases.

In the exam room, we focus on the patient—but what about the caregiver? I saw one, exhausted yet unwavering, and no one asked how they were doing. Caregivers carry so much, often unnoticed. A simple ‘How are you holding up?’ can mean the world. Let’s not forget them.

Setbacks teach you to lean on your mentors and support system - sometimes it feels like they believe in you more than you believe in yourself. You need them by your side to stand up again and keep going! So grateful to everyone who supported me the past few months!
