Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, who resigned from Premier Doug Ford's cabinet & as a PC MPP just under a year ago, has released the prologue of her book: A Physician in the Political Arena. Here's the former long-term care minister's long-awaited explanation of why she quit politics.
@CharliePinkerto We probably have her to thank for some of the better elements of policy (good access to rapid tests, antivirals and vaccines) but shows the unfortunate limits of what even a well informed person can accomplish in a raw political arena filled with uneducated and misinformed people
@CharliePinkerto Pfft who cares what the Minister of Death has to say? She stayed quiet because she was more concerned about her position than the thousands of people dying on her watch. It’s indefensible, especially as a doctor. #onpoli
@CharliePinkerto This confirms what I have been saying over and over again. If elected as a Conservative, if you don`t conform to their agenda( Even if Wrong), Your voice is silenced within the Caucus. Your(people`s) voice is silenced. You must do as you are told.
@CharliePinkerto Could have crossed the chamber and been a voice for the sick.
@CharliePinkerto Why didn’t she leave the PC Party & become an independent if she felt so strongly? It is worse to say you knew the government you represent ignored science & evidence & to have done nothing.
@CharliePinkerto @picardonhealth No expertise is ever welcomed in politics
@CharliePinkerto A lot of seniors died while Merrilee decided she "couldn't" take a stand. There was no way those working as a part time Walmart cashier should have bee tucking seniors in as a second job. They should have been brought on full time during the pandemic. It was heartless.
@CharliePinkerto Bad writing. Bad choices. Bad excuses. Bad outcomes. I'm not buying the 'poor me' prologue, @Dr_M_Fullerton. But I wouldn't mind seeing your mandate letter now that you're not working for @fordnation.
