Happy Birthday to my late brother Rob. Today would have been Rob’s 54th birthday. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think of him. I know he’d be so proud of what we’re doing in Ontario. As much as I wish he was here, I know he’s always watching over us.

I was thrilled to join my friends at the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario for their annual Business Excellence Awards. Ontario is fortunate to have a thriving Italian business community with leaders across every sector. Congratulations again to all the award winners.

We promised to build more long-term care homes. Now, we’re getting it done. I was thrilled to attend the opening of the new Humber Meadows long-term care home. This state-of-the-art facility is adding another 320 beds so more people can connect to long-term care close to home.

The cars of the future are being built right here in Ontario, by Ontario workers. Today’s investment of $4.7 million will help train more than 360 people for good, full-time jobs in our growing automotive manufacturing sector.

Over the past two and a half years, Ontario has secured over $25 billion in auto and #EVBattery investments. Investing in free training for auto workers will ensure we prepare and train the workforce needed for these highly skilled, good-paying jobs.

We’re addressing the growing needs of communities across Ontario when it comes to end-of-life care. Over 1,200 people have received compassionate support at the Kensington Hospice, which has grown from a 10-bed to a 19-bed facility to provide care when families need it most.

It’s all-too-common to meet a skilled newcomer trained as an engineer, doctor, etc, working in a low-wage job that doesn’t relate to their profession. Proud to be with @PEO_HQ to announce that they’re the first association to remove the Canadian work experience requirement.
