Work requirements hurt poor people AND are a waste of money. Arkansas spent $26 million on administrative costs for work requirements — and saw no increase in employment. Georgia’s program cost $40 million in one year — 80% of that went to administrative and consulting costs.

Offshore wind: 1) Is close to load centers (LNG export terminals, Houston, etc.) 2) Performs best at peak times (hot summer afternoons) 3) Generates revenue for state coffers 4) Is a clean, domestic source of energy 5) Leverages our offshore industry So TxLege might ban it.

If one of Harris's weaknesses was organization building, the campaign infrastructure is already built, the ads are bought, many of the themes are set (abortion/democracy/freedoms, Project 2025), rate cuts are coming...just need to slot the game management QB into the system.

How many cities would approve a 13-story building of affordable & chronically homeless housing in midtown + do a zoning variance to allow it to have a larger footprint + have neighbors show up in support + unanimous vote by Planning Comm? It's why Houston leads nation in housing.

I used to think decarbonization was hard because voters prioritized the goals of the energy system in the following order: 1) Affordable 2) Reliable 3) Secure 4) Clean But I missed one. The actual order of prioritization is: 1) Jobs 2) Affordable 3) Reliable 4) Secure 5) Clean

What's happening on ERCOT power grid this summer is stunning. Going into summer, the record demand was 79.8 gw. Last week, we hit 85.6 gw-- a 7.2% increase! In one year! Most afternoons, grid is being held up by solar & natural gas.

The 9th largest economy in the world shouldn’t be in a position where we frantically text everyone to lower their thermometers every other day. We need to fix ERCOT and connect it to other grids, invest in energy efficiency, and build resilience through a Texas Green Bank!

Hey y’all. I know you’re mad, and I’m mad too. We have another ERCOT conservation notice starting at 4pm today. The heat we’re seeing used to be unusual in June, but now it’s too common. I’m mad that just two days ago the governor vetoed legislation to improve energy efficiency.

@russellgold @elonmusk Electricity use will triple but that does not mean—and *cannot* mean if anyone besides @elonmusk is going to be able to afford their bills—that peak demand will triple. The key is *when* electricity will be used. If we do this right, we can 3x consumption & bills will go down.

A 10x increase in bike trips after installing the protected bike-lane. 1000% increase. Never forget, when you’re being pressured to prove that safe bike-lanes are "needed," it's hard to justify a bridge by the number of people swimming across a raging river.
