My top tip for studying historical languages: don't treat the process as a passive reading exercise: write in it, think in it, speak it - nothing will make the grammar & vocabulary stick in your mind more quickly. Tweet in Latin, write email in Ancient Greek - confuse people! :D
Little bit of good news. I was given the opportunity to help @Alvarus_lat with some proofreading for his translation of Comenius’ Orbis Sensualium Pictus. It feels great to have my name attached to such an important project, and I encourage everyone to pick up their own copy.
Ancient Greek and Latin are real languages, that can really be spoken to really convey real things. Really. We should change the way we teach the ancient languages to reflect that they are, in fact, languages!

Literally couldn't have studied the court of Charlemagne at university without my A-level Latin. It's the glue that holds together 21 centuries of European culture. But bet you anything that the proponents of this philistine move consider themselves "proud Europeans".

It's a shame the free courses at the Schola Latina Universalis no longer take place, it was the only way where they taught with that book, and provided an English translation… avitus.alcuinus.net/schola_latina/…
"As a general rule, Greek sentences, clauses, phrases, and single words are linked by a connecting particle to what precedes. Connexion is, on the whole, not often omitted in verse, still less often in prose."
