All I have to add to the psycho Lutheran discourse is this: Jesus made it clear that no righteous father would give his child a serpent if they asked for a fish. The fact that letting your child be slaughtered is so perverse and unnatural is telling. Grace perfects nature.

God brings Abraham bread and wine AFTER calling him, AFTER his battle with evil, and IN the presence of those his line would overthrow. That pattern must embolden us as we approach the Lord’s Supper, having been united to Christ’s triumph over evil and commissioned for dominion.

One of the great joys we see in Christ’s incarnation is the nearness that the creator gifts to the creature. In Christ’s ministry we see God and Man brought together and the Savior amongst us. He has walked these paths and knows what we need before we even ask.
