Agree. And… one of the traps I see (and have fallen into myself at times) is dads of the current generation comparing themselves to the last generation to justify their current level of contribution. Apples and oranges.

Much of growth and development involves finding your edges and skillfully practicing with them. That’s it.
I suspect our most lasting endowments to our kids will simply be the knowledge / skills / perspectives to (a) be able to grow their own food (plants & animals) and (b) love deeply — in equal parts. Everything else is background noise.
I’ve heard there’s a circle of hell that’s just for entrepreneurs — they have to practice mock quarterly earnings calls as if they’ve IPO’d, but they never make it to being a public company.

Guided meditations are more interesting when you get beyond the words and experience them as pointers to the teacher’s way of being.
Something I wish I knew earlier was that maximum focus comes naturally when I absolutely completely love what I’m doing, which is more about a way of life than any day to day optimization.

Got up for morning chores. 6a. House is asleep. Sun is coming up. Podcast in one ear, nature in the other. The chicks are happy to be moved to some fresh grass. Donkeys are happy for some fresh water. Enjoying this new farm life very much.
