Hitachi 750GB 2.5” sata HDD had suffered “stiction” where the heads had stuck down onto the data bearing platter, that usually spins at 7200 rpm. The heads were damaged during this failure so a head change recovery using donor parts was performed. 99.9% of the data was rescued

Two successful recoveries from “beeping” drives under the middle tier advanced service. Both customers did exactly the right thing and immediately powered them off and contacted us. Which gave us the best chance of recovery and at the middle tier price.

WD 2TB clicking/ticking. Customer turned it off straight away and sent to the lab. Lucky she did as the heads were in a bit of a mess, but we managed to get all the data off with a head transplant.

Full recovery from Seagate 1TB 3.5” head failure. On evaluation head 0 was faulty, so that was turned off. We managed to clone surface 1. We then sourced a donor drive, the new heads were good and we cloned surface 0. The data was finally recovered on our rigs from the clones.

Guide to clicking, ticking or beeping Hard drives. 1) Power the drive down and do not power on again. 2)Seek the help of a data recovery specialist and make them aware of the issue. 3) Do not give to a friend “in IT”, or attempt opening the drive using instructions online.

A few recent recoveries: 4TB WD Red 2.32TB rescued using a f/w fix and clone. Seagate 2Tb 683gb rescued fusing f/w fix. Toshiba 1Tb 37.9gb rescued with head replacement. Toshiba 500GB 486GB rescued on our standard rigs. Everything from baby pics to business critical databases

Head 0 had failed but head 1, 2 & 3 whilst weak could read their surfaces. So we turned off head 0 and concentrated on cloning the others first. Once that was complete we used a donor drive to perform a head change, going after the missing surface 0, which gave us a full recovery

If you have a beeping drive, turn it off and send to a data recovery specialist. Failure to do this could make the fault worse and even destroy your data. These two drives have just finished in the lab and are good examples, both have been successful at the middle pricing tier.

Full data recovery and a working phone. Great work by our phone specialist. The pictures don’t due the damage justice, it was in a right state after being crushed by a car boot.
