pretty unhappy with @Mariners -- after providing my phone number last night to purchase tickets, i've now received 14 (and counting) phone calls from north carolina. correlation doesn't imply causation, but it certainly doesn't look like they're handling my data well

I think this directly rejects @WillBrinson theory that "if the most analytics-heavy team does it, don't say it's against analytics, figure out what you're not considering analytically". decosta seems to make it clear that he's going against his analytics advisors with the pick

this is super cool, especially if they don't have tracking data from the schools (I don't know if colleges have tracking data for players at this point). if not, it sounds like a vision problem based off of tape, which is really interesting.
