I have to renew my driver’s license and saw on the website that there’s an option to disclose on your license that you have an “invisible disability” (their wording). Has anyone done this for diabetes? Like in case you go low and drive like crazy so they don’t think you’re drunk?

@DiabetesBabes The rules and ability to add it vary by state. I am in FL and they say insulin dependent on my license. You have to ask for it (or any other chronic illness) to be listed, they won’t offer it.
@DiabetesBabes If you go low and drive like crazy in the UK you'll lose your licence. We are supposed to test before driving and our doctors are consulted before our licences are renewed to make sure we are safe. I'm interested to know how strict they are on it in other countries though?

@jazz_insulin Also vote for hourly/ 2 hourly injections of shirt w ring. My pump broke abs I had to do this for 48hours but I stayed well. I divided my daily basal rate by 12 and gave that 2 hourly. To start with you need to get your sugars down with a bigger dose, some exercise and fluids

@DiabetesBabes @DiabetesBros Medtronic pump user here not omnipod but I have the same issue on the thigh/hip. If I sleep on my side I think it pinches the cannula. At least my pump beeps at me when flow is blocked.

@DiabetesBabes Do you have a CGM? Bc knowing whether it's a fast or slow rise is probably helpful. For some reason I often spike right as I fall asleep. Like 70+ points in a few minutes. No idea why.
@DiabetesBabes For some reason, pods on my arm lead to an occlusion or overnight bg spikes like you describe. But pods on my tummy lead to really nice and stable BGs. I think each user must go through a process of determining the best sites for their body.

@rox_cleveland I actually used it as a torture device for my G.I. Joe action figures sometimes with an old lancet. Cobra doesn’t abide by the Geneva Convention.

@DiabetesBabes My prior employer provided this benefit too. Note that if your employer is self insured, they may not have elected this particular coverage.
@DiabetesBabes Yeah, but the carrier, such as a delta dental, provides the services selected by the employer for their plan, so it isn’t always a sure thing.
