imagine a world where I follow Faux’s advice & stop “low value care”. No palliative care. No care for patients with dementia. No death certificates (that’s “billing dead people”) stop getting MC rebates for pts, charge a private fee. Devastating for pts. But keeps a lawyer happy

The last thing we seem to want to talk about in all this contrived narrative seems to be Disadvantaged people not able to access high quality health care. The risks to the Australian health system for all. The recognised underfunding of Medicare in primary care.

@RonniSalt @sidherian @ACTINOSProject $8 Billion is a stupid figure. A 2 minute investigation by myself; 38,388 GP’s in Australia (2020/21 Deloitte) That means every GP is rorting Medicare of $208,398. This is a bullshit story and it’s authors should be seriously questioned.

Wow. Margaret Faux says we're rorting Medicare when we provide radiotherapy to end stage cancer pts, treat pts with dementia in nursing homes or treat multiple conditions over several consultations. Because taxpayer money is wasted on these pple? Sickening attitude.

@nick_coatsworth I’m very sad that more distrust is being promulgated by you. There are major issues in the transactional nature of our culture that are destroying institutions of trust. This is an unhelpful & generalising statement. Really sad given your past roles of public leadership & trust.

It's all been said before, but General Practitioners are the glue for our society, the bedrock for our health, and arguably the most important part of our health-care system, after oxygen. The vast majority work far beyond what should be expected, for marginal remuneration.

Since my kids had covid at the end of last year they've picked up every virus going around and our regular GP has been so competent, warm and valued. The attack on GP's is appalling and, like I've been saying for ages, their rebate needs to be raised so they can BB again.

It was fortuitous that I saw my GP this morning. Andrew has been my doctor for 20 years, & has helped my kids & I through the ordinary & extraordinary times in my life. He is ethical, professional & kind. I owe him a great deal. If only all Australians could have a GP like mine.
