The yellow & red line properties make up city owned parking lots on Lake Ave S & Mountain Ave S in #HamOnt. Yellow ones are 2 properties recommended to convert to affordable housing. The red one would remain as City owned parking. The #housingcrisis requires action like this!
@NrinderWard3 @gcrawfordHamOnt Try to align this statement from Nann on the #housing crisis, with her verbatim nonsense from a few weeks ago on the Vrancor proposal. I'll wait. Seems parking only valid consideration for her neighbours...or IELECT posse primarily concerned about maximizing CMHC $'s for friends.
@FactCheckerX @NrinderWard3 What are the details of the Vrancor ‘gift’? I haven’t been able to determine exactly what is being proposed. Is it an outright gift of a single building. Both buildings. A long term lease? In lieu of what, if anything? Any info you have would be appreciated. Thanks.
@elbielamb1 @FactCheckerX @NrinderWard3 Yes, I saw this, but it doesn’t provide details. For example, it says “eventually gift it to the City of Hamilton.” Does that mean the second building? Both buildings? What are the terms, timing, city commitments? I’m not opposed to it, but it’s useful to know more details.
@gcrawfordHamOnt @FactCheckerX @NrinderWard3 "Vranich is offering to build a 131-unit apartment tower dedicated to deeply affordable housing. Also on the same site would be a market-rent tower. He further is offering to subsidize the rents of those units to keep the monthly payment to $1,100 a month."
@elbielamb1 @FactCheckerX @NrinderWard3 Thanks, but those are still broad brushstrokes. I’d just like more specifics, as I suspect do some others before jumping in. Seems fair to me. It’s just due diligence IMO.
@gcrawfordHamOnt @FactCheckerX @NrinderWard3 The article explains what he's offering. "at the end of 20 years, when the mortgage is either completely or mostly paid off, he will gift the building to the city. The value of the rent subsidy alone is in the area of $25 million."
@elbielamb1 @FactCheckerX @NrinderWard3 I believe you run a business. I did & sold it 20 years ago. There are not enough details here for me to make a decision. I agree we should keep working w Vrancor on details, but that in no way changes the Stoney Creek parking lot plan. We need thousands of deeply affordable units
@gcrawfordHamOnt @elbielamb1 @NrinderWard3 How about some due diligence on the over market building estimates for the #HamiltonisHome proposal, when monopolizing non-profit Project Lead is married to for-profit consulting Architect? Know you think this is all wonderful, but maybe warrants a glance? raisethehammer.org/article/3019/a…
