Alum Jason Rogers from Surveying Solutions Inc (SSI) in Birmingham visited last week along with Peter Drake, SSI Operations manager. Jason graduated in the first class of Geomatics students. He shared his journey as a surveyors and we were happy to have them talk to our students.

Two classes of GIS 3390 Fundamentals of Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) make us happy! A variety of majors including Data Analytics, Social Science and Environmental science shows how far-reaching GIS has become. A special welcome to our Chinese students!

First company visit of year with Jonathan Walters, Joseph Miles, and Jasmine Banks from Peabody Energy, headquartered in St. Louis. Subway and a lot of fun swag . It was a great turnout from the students, and especially nice to see the older students interacting with the new.

Always proud to highlight our alumni. Patrick McLure is a Geomatics grad who has charted an impressive career path in GIS. First at Troy Utilities and now at SSMC. Recently, he earned his certification as a GIS Professional (GISP) through the GIS Certification Institute.

Another new group of future surveyors in Basics of Surveying class. If you saw them on the social quad yesterday afternoon, they were doing their first lab. We hope to see all of them walk across the stage of Trojan arena and fulfill the great need for geospatial professionals

Welcome Emily Carroll to the Geomatics - Geodesy program! She and Lane Smith, who will be Geomatics - Land Surveying, will begin their journey at Troy along with the other IMPACT students we hosted this summer. Looking forward to seeing all the new students (and old ones, too😊)

John French was a long way from home this summer, but he must have thought it was worth it to intern for Halliburton Surveying and Mapping in Huntsville and work with all the Troy alumni there. Looks like he had some different experiences. Glad he was wearing that safety vest!

Our Online GIS students held internship positions this summer, too. Mark Blaylock worked at Gulf Surveying and Mapping in Bonifay, FL. He is minoring in Surveying and Geomatics Sciences so this was a perfect fit for him.

This summer 2 brothers learned different aspects of the geospatial field on either side of the Mississippi. Tyler Lighter was a GIS intern at Hodges, Harbin, Newberry, and Tribble and Aaron Lightner was a surveying intern with @westwoodps . Aaron was able to survey in CO and AK.

After 25 years of the Geomatics program, we are beginning to see the second generation of @TroyUniversity students preparing to be surveyors. This summer Wyatt Cornett worked with his dad, Phillip, '03, and Danny Brooks, '10, at Thompson Engineering during his first internship.

Frank Thomas Middleton graduated in May and has joined his brother Tepper Middleton, also a Troy Geomatics alum, at Schoel Engineering in Birmingham. He is welcomed by Jake Bonds, another Troy alum. We know his parents are proud of their sons as are we here at @TroyUniversity.

It's graduation week! 2 Surveying and Geomatics students finished internships and will take the stage Fri. Garrett Cooke has many faces, and so glad he spent 4 years with us so he could return to work for his dad in NC at Patriot Survey & Infrastructure. Proud of you, Garrett!

We were super excited to meet Ryhein Fuller, our newest GIS student, during the Troy University IMPACT department visit yesterday. We look forward to seeing him on campus this fall!

Our Geomatics students were in the latest issue of the ASPLS magazine for their participation in the NSPS competition. The ASPLS sponsored the team and they even used their photo in a second article "The Washington Monument-A Surveyors Obelisk." Still so proud of these students.
