The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta started this morning, but the first mass ascension had to be canceled because of upper-level winds. By the time that I ran, the winds were more than just upper-level!
I timed my run so that I was running past our elementary school for Breakfast with Balloons. It is the day before the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, which starts tomorrow. #albuquerqueinternationalballoonfiesta
Sunrise run with balloons over my neighborhood while I was gone. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta starts Saturday, so there will be plenty more chances to see them!
The flag was at half staff at the Albuquerque Latter Day Saints Temple to honor the passing of President Nelson and the victims of the Michigan Latter Day Saints chapel shooting and fire.
The leaves in the northern mountains in New Mexico are at peak color and will stay that way for a couple of weeks. There is just a hint of color change starting here in Albuquerque.

I don't know when I developed an aversion to running on cloudy days or in the rain, but thankfully, I am not challenged too often. It started to sprinkle, and I knew that I was running toward the rain, but I didn't waver and ran the route and distance that I had planned.
Sunrise run in the Sandia Mountain foothills with beautiful views and vert. What more could you ask for!
I googled and was surprised to see that we are one of 12 states with active volcanoes. Between those trees, and in the distance, are the Three Sisters Volcanoes. I didn't google, but we might be the only city to have volcanoes that are "sisters"!
The sun was just right to catch the entire length of the Sandia Peak Tramway cable, which goes the 2.7 miles to the Sandia Crest.
I actually took a day off from running yesterday and did a strength workout and walked. This morning, I was in the Open Space behind the John Robert Dam (from Breaking Bad, except that you saw the other side) and ran east toward the foothills.
My run in the neighborhood this morning had balloons, the view that goes on seemingly forever to the west, sun glinting on the Sandia Peak Tram cables, and goats!
Flying almost overhead this morning in the Rio Grande Valley. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is only two weeks away!
I ran a dirt trail along a hillside by a 6-lane road this morning and had only gone about 15:00 when I heard the distinct sound of a coyote. I spotted him about 50' from the back of a house and about 75' from that 6-lane road. Amazing to see and amazing to hear!
I started my run before sunrise with a one-mile walk, ran up to the Open Space by the Albuquerque LDS Temple, and then saw some hot air balloons over the mesa as I headed home.
I paid a price for yesterday's gloriously fun adventure in my new Novablast 5s. The heel stack is 6mm higher than my Gel Nimbus Lite 3s, and I worked my leg muscles differently. Nothing that a walk warm-up, and then a run couldn't fix!
Absolutely gorgeous morning in the valley with my run starting at the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park and heading north. Lots and lots of cyclists and runners on the out and back with a whopping 56' of elevation gain!
