Hardy Street
Second Great Horned Owl I've encountered in one of my regular spots. No hooting or disturbance of other birds indicated this one to me. I knew but couldn't process that something was off about a particular set of trees until my eyes and brain caught up with each other.
Evening Mockingbird 8-5-25
Eastern Towhee. You'd think they would stand out in green leaves and brown wood but I had this one in front of me calling not 50 feet away. It took a minute to even spot him. Still the loudest Sparrow.
Great Crested Flycatcher. Didn't get to see him in action but it's great to k kw they are out here none the less.
I need to invest in a real tripod head. Got decent stability by redneck engineering a stable 'bench' to angle my lens from a portable standing desk (which has a decent tripod). Last night's moon.
Red-bellied Woodpecker in a nest.
Osprey. Beautiful bird. I knew it had flown close enough to get some clear shots but I didn't count on seeing its large yellow eyes so well.
At this point I declare the Shrike as my muse. I think about how best to portray it when it shows up, and I like to think I know this particular one's habits. Had a conversation with a fellow birders and tried to get a photo of the woodpecker after it was spotted.

Not the best shots, but typical interaction of walking in the woods too close to one I didn't see and scaring them off. Techniques may have to change.
