@cremieuxrecueil NWEA data shows that the students who performed the lowest on math tests also had the largest loss over the summer. That loss was largest in early and late grades. From 4th to 8th grade, the 25th percentile and 75th percentile had similar gains during the school year.
@cremieuxrecueil Other studies may get different results depending on who they sample. NWEA results show anomalously large losses after 5th grade but small losses in 6th and 7th grade. I suspect that this isn't a "summer" learning loss but rather a constant learning loss offset by classes.
