@MatznerJon The numbers that will be used in this math equation are for the current environment but once private equity gains a large enough share of the rental market the rent will jump Because remember every owner that sells becomes a renter but the equity firms increase their share

@MatznerJon Barely a millionaire, but the math is simple. Today's housing prices are insane. I own 1 rental and the house I live in now. We want to move to Austin. If we move right now we are putting our current house up for rent and signing a lease in Austin.

@oslandd @rockets4all2 @MatznerJon That's a good point of view. His strategy works because he already has an asset which he acquired in the past years before prices went up and can now rent it out while renting in other places compared to others who have no asset. We're all playing a different game.

@rockets4all2 @MatznerJon The math IS simple, you already own two properties and so would be comfortable moving to rent elsewhere. But you wouldn't sell both of your properties to do so, would you? This strategy isn't a decision for people with no assets, though. They rent because that's the only option.

@farminglvl99 @JHS19701 @MatznerJon Since the 90s there has been a housing bubble that popped. Markets are cyclical, there are times to buy and there are times to be patient. If you think now is a time to buy, then good luck with that. Cost of ownership vs renting is also at near highs

Houses can go to unimaginable levels and the rich will still buy them and corporates will manipulate the prices up even more. And it leads to this notoriou situation where only rich people…
