Today I talked with one of my classes about how they learn. We also drew some conclusions about how video games teach you the mechanics of the game and that makes you want to continue playing them. How can we take these same concepts and apply them to classes in school?

Patience goes a long way. It is human nature to get upset when students act out. But the next time a student tries to push you over the edge, stop and think for a minute why this might be happening. Forge relationships with students, don't push them away.

The creativity and design that makes people go back to play video games over and over can be utilized in the classroom to get kids more involved in their learning. Make classes exciting, challenging, and give the kids a reason to learn and they will.
