In Wilmot, Ontario, farmers are being told that they have to sell their land to the government or it will be confiscated. We held a town hall to get to the bottom of this with nearly 500 in attendance. #ONpoli
@MaritStiles @shaw_sandy These farmers need legal assistance to take Ford and the local council to court over this. Good quality farmland is a precious resource, it's not replaceable, and should be protected at all costs for now and into the future.
@MaritStiles @shaw_sandy It's usually called annexation, and owners are paid for their land. Not always fair price. Cities and counties have been doing this since the 50s as cities grow. What was the outcome of the meeting?
@MaritStiles @shaw_sandy Why isn’t this on the news???
@MaritStiles @shaw_sandy Just up and expropriate, take your land for development. And we're worried about a ****ing tax when they can take your land..water.
@MaritStiles @shaw_sandy Landowners should take the corrupt individual responsible for this to court. Fight back. I doubt if he wants to be in court again. Imho.
@MaritStiles @shaw_sandy At least ford gave them notice unlike in Yarmouth Centre where the Cons signed an MZO late at night expropriating the land to extend the boundaries of St Thomas. For the VW EV plant. Everyone was surprised to find this out, even the mayor of Yarmouth Ctr who was given no notice
@MaritStiles @shaw_sandy WHAT??? This is outrageous!!!! Lawyer up Wilmot!!!
@MaritStiles @shaw_sandy Only a crooked politician would try to pull this off.
@MaritStiles @lindahaslett @shaw_sandy Another @fordnation fiasco to be reversed?
