Remembering Sgt Paul Keany of Northamptonshire police who collapsed and died from a heart attack on this day in 2020 after arriving at work to take a handover from the day shift.

These last 6 weeks resourcing have been very challenging & there are many instances of @BTPSpecials stepping in to support & enable regulars to get some well earned rest. York v Hartlepool is a great example of this - where half the officers policing the fixture were Specials 👏🏻
So, as the year comes to an end, some stats from the NAB team ✅️ 7909 hours completed by 28 officers ✅️ 1051 Grade One Incidents ✅️ 66 Arrests ✅️ 27 Stop Searches ✅️ 24 Vehicles Seized ✅️ 21 MOE Entries
This BMW was seen driving between #Rothwell and #Desborough. The driver was arrested for #drinkdriving. Blowing an incredible 162 (legal limit is 35) he was charged and remanded. He was then given an immediate ban until sentenced by the courts. #p0216 #OpRoadsafe #fatalfive

@sc_survey @NAB_Specials 2/3 of specials leave in the first 3 years, and the average is 42% of those join the regs. This has been pretty constant for the last 5 years at least, the uplift program didn’t seem to affect it, but a much bigger number left policing altogether last year for some reason.
