The first Black Probation Officer, Clovis Maidstone Roach was born in Kingston Jamaica, in 1918, he emigrated to the UK in 1941. He became a probation officer in SW Lancashire probation service in 1962 and became a senior probation officer in 1965 he was awarded a MBE in 1977.
