I have an aversion to the phrase 'what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger'. It is not only misleading, but can also be harmful. In clinical reality, what does not kill us often leaves us psychically weakened. Unless worked through, trauma is more likely to disable than empower.

When the same word is used to describe and explain so many things that it comes to mean everything and therefore nothing, it no longer communicates information (except perhaps about the assumptions/ideology of the person using it) My word of the day is “trauma” What’s yours?
