Absolutely heartbreaking to hear about Ruth Perry taking her own life as a result of Ofsted, RIP Ruth and sending so much love to those who knew her. Yet again the effects of this government have taken another life, this can’t keep happening

I lost my partner to suicide during our teacher training. Thanks to the work of @Placementchange the ‘suicide-safer universities: support for placement students’ was implemented. Support like this is needed for all throughout the profession, it shouldn’t stop when you qualify.

Top down change is needed for all things concerning mental health, but we can make small positive changes by checking in on each other - never underestimate the difference one person can make.

I find it hard to talk about things like this on my Edutwitter, but this past week has illuminated the need to. Suicide is nearly 2x the national average in the primary teaching profession. We need to look after ourselves, support each other and campaign for change 💜
