I’m proud of Virginia for making significant strides in reducing its maternal mortality rate from 47 in 2021 to 23 in 2024. Expanding access and increasing Medicaid coverage for doulas have been vital steps. While 23 lost lives is too many, we are moving in the right direction.

If you supported @BarackObama's National Diaper Bank Network, you should support pregnancy centers. Several I visited last week provide free diapers for a year! It is time to start acting like Democrats—support instead of demonizing pregnancy centers that support those in need.

Current law in Virginia permits abortion during the 1st and 2nd trimesters. Women can access 3rd-trimester abortions with physician approval. The likelihood of these laws being overturned is minimal. The main concern is that abortion could be deregulated and made less safe.
