Stoney Creek councillors said a lot of things to stop the project on Lake Ave - pitched alternate sites, discussed "made in Stoney Creek" solutions, etc. They can of course still pursue these things, we need thousands of new homes, way more than 67 units, in all parts of #HamOnt
Here's my prediction: they won't! These were just things they said in bad faith to stop the project, and none of them will actually champion building another affordable unit in their wards. They personally won't do jack squat about the crisis except say words. Hope I'm wrong!
@mattjelly @alexzafer Basically a variation on this:
@ErnestBorgTen @mattjelly @alexzafer You’re usually right but not this time. Initial talks on sites, ideas etc already previously started before yesterdays meeting and announcement by 3 Stoney creek clrs posted on Facebook earlier today 🥰
@SaundersWard10 @ErnestBorgTen @alexzafer Yeah- I fully hope they prove me wrong, egg all over my face & beard, totally embarrassed. If they build a bunch of additional deeply affordable units in SC they can put me in a dunk tank and invite the whole town
@SaundersWard10 @ErnestBorgTen @mattjelly @alexzafer It appears much of the talk on alternative sites calls for moving new affordable housing projects out of Stoney Creek and into Hamilton's Riverdale neighbourhood.
@SaundersWard10 @ErnestBorgTen @mattjelly @alexzafer That announcement had real "if he wanted to, he would" energy.
