You don’t need to over-explain or convince people when you set a boundary. If they don’t respect it, hold the boundary anyway. If they continue to not respect it, reflect on what role they’ll have in your life going forward. Boundaries are for you, not them.

People will, in the same breath, give you sh*t for not standing up for yourself-- but then give you sh*t for being "difficult" & "pushing people away." Turns out some people "want" you to be assertive-- as long as it doesn't make them, personally, uncomfortable.
