Looks like Gunung Ruang has been undergoing a significant eruption since about 1840 UTC, with a much more lightning-filled plume than the one a couple weeks ago. Over 16,000 lightning events detected in the Ruang plume since 1841 UTC.

While the Harlan, IA tornado ultimately might not get rated an EF4-5 due to a lack of damage indicators, I'm not surprised at all the DOWs found EF5 winds. I believe that tornado at its peak when @SimonStormRider and I were next to it was capable of EF5 damage and EF5 strength.

The La Plata tornado was originally assigned an F5 rating by survey teams, however, consultation with experts later lowered the rating to F4. Three people were killed and 122 were injured. Over 850 homes and nearly 200 businesses were damaged or destroyed along a 38-mile path.
April 27-28, 2002: A widespread outbreak spawned over 40 tornadoes in numerous states from Nebraska to Maryland. The strongest tornado of the event was an F4 that devastated La Plata, MD. It stands as Maryland's most recent violent tornado. Six people were killed. #wxhistory

@BradArnoldWX As an EMT, some of this could be “downloading emotions,” which is not a bad thing psychologically. I’ve done it myself to a lesser degree by talking about tragic events to others, not so much on social media. The difference is when the purpose is to glorify oneself.
Not naming names, but why is there such a hero/savior complex with a certain very small group of chasers? What happened to helping people out because it’s the decent thing to do? Instead it’s more about taking pictures, and saying look at me I’m being a good person.

Looks like Gunung Ruang has been undergoing a significant eruption since about 1840 UTC, with a much more lightning-filled plume than the one a couple weeks ago. Over 16,000 lightning events detected in the Ruang plume since 1841 UTC.
