If you have to rely on your backup goalie in back to back playoff years your starter isn’t a starter. Maybe he could be but he’s not yet and that’s a fair statement.

Stu Skinner playoff GAA: 2024: 2.45 / 2025: 2.99 Why is no one in the Edmonton media talking about this? Over half a goal against increase in 500 minutes less played, that's significant. Skinner's played 50 career playoff games and he's .893. Get a goalie.

This is the type of thing that will put doubt in Mcdavid's mind about re-signing max term. Or at all. Below average goaltending 3 years running in every stat and eye test, but let's keep banging our heads against the wall trying the same thing. Sigh.

dumb. dumb. team gets to within 1 and then 2 games of a ring, Bouchard wins his minutes 57-35 in the two runs (including 11-8 with neither 97 or 29 on the ice), goaltending is the team's obvious weak point. but oh yeah it will be literally impossible to win with Bouchard

An important note about the Marchment/Seattle deal - GM Jim Nill sent Marchment to another 'no state tax' team. You don't want the rep of sending a player somewhere they don't want to go after they take less to play for you.

The Oilers have had a save percentage below 89% in 23 of their 47 playoff games in the past two seasons and came within one and two wins of winning the Cup. I would say that that's probably the main culprit IMO
