Five caveats for the curriculum
One: there’s no need to have everything in place for us to get cracking.
Sometimes, there’s a reluctance to make a start until all the plans are written up.
One of the most well-received things I have implemented since becoming AHT for T&L is the Monday Morsel email. I've collated all those from this first half term hyperlinked here for ease of referral for teachers.

I would be very grateful for any books, journals etc that could be recommended on curriculum design. I have read through a large proportion of the Ofsted research papers already. TIA 🙏
Very proud of the students and English team @DixonsTC as our students achieved a P8 in English of +1.28. A few things that we think made a difference for our students, as well as a call for simplicity:
Here is a thread containing all ten of our 'Five Ways' one-pagers. I've included the links to @teacherhead's original blog. You'll also find a PDF of each one-pager; PDF files are better for printing.

If you want to read about how leadership can be done differently; how headship is possible with 3 under 5; & that you can do leadership & teaching flexibly, then try these. Informed by 18 years of flexible working in SLT, Headship & Trust Leadership roles.
There is another way!
I’ve been doing the gig for a while, but what I am enjoying about The Behaviour Manual by @Strickomaster is the books ability to highlight so many important things that easily get lost in the day to day wild ride of running a school, they certainly aren’t lost anymore!
Being a parent can be hard at best of times. As leaders, we should do all we can to help colleagues navigate a tricky balancing act with childcare & running around. Same goes for carers or anyone else with stuff going on. Everyone’s a winner when you have happy colleagues.
A colleague from another school once said to me that I must be v. good and well respected to have been supported returning as an AHT PT 0.6, I took that as a compliment but it made me realise that being supported to balance family and my career was not the norm in other places.
🧵Without the flexibility I have requested and been provided with over the last twenty years, I would not have been able to progress in my career, both before and after having my children.

Here are some key features of high-performing teams that everyone should explore:
Exactly! It’s not a lack of willingness or commitment. Evaluating your expectations through the lens of inclusivity is essential if you want to be an employer of choice for all.
