My first trip to Balad, an RPG round pierced through C130 fuselage kit the ramp and skidded about 100 yards. Everyone on the plane was leaving for R&R. We happened to roll up to the ramp right as EOD was approaching the round. Apparently, the shooter left the safing pin.

My uniform regularly got dingy (ABUs) Jumping headfirst into the cockpits and greasy avionics bays and changing explosive lines and retrieving pilot's lost items didn't leave me much chance. Of course I washed my them when it got too nasty. They were magnets for grime.
