When I complain people ask, why are you in graduate school?? And I must say, one of my greatest needs is having someone to talk to who shares my interests. I don't have that anywhere...except grad school. Many of us first gen don't and are here for the intellectual companionship.

Just found out an 80 yr old white male who says he came from a "good family reputation" and "started with nothing" in the 60's, built an empire of 20 apartment complexes (inc. mine). He still says *everyone* had the same opportunities he had. 🤦‍♀️

I keep doing the math, and I've concluded I'll likely be homeless in 5-10 years. Accounting for rising rents, rising prices and how much I may realistically make once I complete my education—I see few other possibilities aside from major system change. Does anyone else see this?

I haven't seen people outside of my immediate family for so long, and the people I've communicated with throughout the pandemic on zoom, well, are sort of mean—and frankly now I'm worried about going back to being in person this fall, and having everyone be antagonistic and mean.

48 hrs after my 2nd Pfizer shot I hemorrhaged for days, and now I've not had a menstrual cycle for 2 months. Before this I was regular, always on time, normal flow, a real menstruation dream. I tried explaining this to my doctor and was told "that's just not possible".

It's already a bad day. What do you do if you can't work, can't even do any "self-care", can't even get dressed. WHAT do you do? How does someone get out of this?
