While we were at KAASO, we talked with Dominic and Rose about how to allocate our funds when there are so many competing priorities. Something that came higher than everything else was safety, so we are delighted to have helped to provide new fire extinguishers at the school.

Wow. KAASO, An orphanage/school and farm in Uganda run by the incomparable Dominic and Rose Mukwaya. Over 700 children learn to read and write here, while building community with the teachers and local people involved in the enterprises. We can learn so much from this. Amazing.
Here's Nurse Shiba monitoring the Brick-making project. Nurse Shiba is the Chairperson of the newly formed KAASO Staff Development Association, which will issue #microloans to individuals and groups working at KAASO to run #SmallBusinesses to supplement their salaries 👌
10,000 litre water tank delivered and blessed 🙏 and solar power system updated! The old batteries have been replaced, the panels have been cleaned and all is working well 👌 Can't wait to get out there in a couple of weeks and see all of this in-person 😀
Chairs galore! Last year, Unity is Strength supported St Paul KAASO to buy chairs that they could hire out at community events to generate some additional income for the school. This has been very successful and Dominic was keen to expand - so were happy to fund a few more! 🪑🪑

It's hard to believe KAASO started with just 12 students in 1999...there are now 707 students and 57 staff members! It is incredible to see how this school and community project have grown over the years 💚

One of the projects for the KAASO Development Association is already underway! Here are some staff and students from KAASO visiting a local training centre to learn how to make bar soap, liquid soap, shampoo, and chalk for the school blackboards 👍
